Mon Aug 11, 2008, 2:55 PM
  • Mood: Noble
  • Listening to: Rachmananov
  • Reading: The Bible (no really)
  • Drinking: beer
These are my favorite women. They've been chosen for a number of reasons; because I like her attitude, because I appreciate her intellectual insight, her bravery or artistry and some have been chosen because they are just too cute for words!

Gillian Anderson, Kate Bush, Naomi Klein, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Naomi Wolf, Rachel Weisz, Alison Goldfrapp, Karen O (YYYs), Gina Gershon 'the England womens football team', Julia Serano, Vandana Shiva, Jennifer Finney Boylen, Simone de Beauvoir.

Fav' Men) These are men who have inspired me for all the reasons above, except for the cuteness part obviously.

Jim Morrison, Phillip Pullman, Richard Dawkins, Noam Chomsky, Christopher Hitchens, David Lynch, Bill Hicks, George Orwell, Alex Ovechkin (great hockey player), Joe Strummer, Marilyn Manson, Banksy.

What is flirting?

Fri Jul 11, 2008, 1:31 AM
  • Mood: Rant
  • Listening to: Is Is (YYYs)
  • Reading: Dorothy Parker
Yesterday I was 'accused' of flirting at work by a straight co-worker. First of all I couldn't help wondering if he would have objected so much if I'd been chatting to a guy instead of a girl, but a little later after my rage had subsided I thought about this question;

What constitutes a flirt?

Although my intention was to flirt with this girl this time, at the time i was being told to get back to work, I was def not flirting. I am sure that for some people even my most flirtiest of flirting techniques would not be considered flirting, or very good flirting anyway.
Perhaps my co-worker thought it was extreme for him.

Ultimately I think flirting is in the brain of the flirter, and that there are no universal rules, except in those extreme and tiresome cases where its obvious to all. But thats another thing that makes flirting difficult to measure; surely flirting should involved an element of stealth and anything that is too obvious shouldn't be regarded as flirting, maybe its at that point when flirting changes to chatting-up.

hhhmmmmm?

  • Listening to: IsIs (YYYs)
  • Reading: God is not great
Off work this week and watching the tennis. Although its a little sad that Sharapova, Ivanovic, Vaidisova and a few others are out. Their a big reason why I watch it, Nicole Vaidisova is sooo cute!

Anyway I think Nadal will beat Federer in the mens and Venus will win the womens.

TG snooper

  • Mood: Zest
  • Listening to: 7th tree (Goldfrapp)
  • Reading: the ballad of Lee Cotton
It says 'Art appreciator' above my profile but it could easily be TG art appreciator.

I must spend most of the time I spend on DA these days looking for tg related stuff. As a bi girl I find the idea of a guy being turned into a girl really appealing. I also find guys dressed as girls a real turn on.

A common theme seems to be 'forced feminisation', and this is a dream situation for someone like me who sometimes likes to have the power.

I just wish there were more guys out there who liked to dress gurly. I suspect there are lots of guys who do, but would never admit to it. Society needs to grow up and embrace gender bending in general, it could solve the worlds problems.

Anyway I just love it all and many of the artists seem like really kind, funny, intelligent and talented people.

"Take it to the streets people!"

Atheism isn't so easy!

Tue Feb 26, 2008, 12:08 PM
  • Mood: Lazy
  • Listening to: the kick inside (kate B)
  • Reading: His Dark Materials
I question my atheism only when I am reminded that the following women walk amongst us on planet earth;

* Gillian Anderson - She's beautiful and smart. Since the end of the X-files she has proven what a really great actor she is, on film and in theatre.

* Jennifer Jason Leigh - I cannot believe people overlook the talent that she has. For me, she must be one of the best actors of the modern times.

* Alison Goldfrapp - She's a never aging, alternative music genius who's a master of the live performance. I think that we are only just beginning to she her talent in a music industry that all too often overlooks the alternative and unconventional in favour of the easy money pop band.

* Kate Bush - She just rules and what a mind she has. I just hope that she can fit in just one tour before she stops making music.

* Rachel Weisz - Just too cute, no one has the right to be that cute, no one!

* Naomi Klein - I love her fearlessness, and the work she does (the shock doctrine & No logo) is always presented in a unique way. Maybe the second greatest Canadian alive today after Don Cherry.

* Sofia Coppola - I Loved 'Lost in Translation' & she's quite cute too (to get back to the important things)

* Naomi Wolf - Love her work, not just her Feminist stuff ( like the beauty myth) but also her work on 'ten steps towards a totalitarian state'.
